Fitness Facility

A sedentary lifestyle increases the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease.  Exercise and physical activity plays a major role in the management of diabetes.  Exercise will help control your weight, lower blood sugar levels and increase your overall health. At wellLIFE:  A Diabetes Clinic and Educational Resource Center, we strongly encourage cardiovascular activity by informing patients of the proper way to exercise and the type of exercise that meets their diabetic needs.

wellLIFE
’s exercise facility technician discusses with each individual client what type of exercise will be most beneficial and safe.  The client and exercise clinical specialist establishes fitness goals based on the clients health needs and identifies specific areas to reach the goals in order to ultimately, lower and maintain glucose levels.  The specialist allows each person to warm up before exercise and cool down after the exercise.  Each exercise begins gradually and progresses in accordance to the established goals and the patient’s fitness level and tolerance.

Before and after each exercise session, the blood pressure and blood sugar is checked.   Feet are checked to make sure there are not any blisters or unknown cuts or bruises.  Each client is encouraged to drink fluids, particularly water, before, during and after exercise.  Healthy snacks are provided in the clinic for potential low blood sugars.

At wellLIFE:  A Diabetics Clinic and Educational Resource Center, we bring diabetes to LIFE:
Learn, Identify, Fight and be Empowered!
