Biography of Dr. Rimani Kelsey
Dr. Kelsey has served our country in the United States Army for seven (7) years and is currently in the Army Reserves. During her active duty military career, Dr. Kelsey served as the Medical Director of the U.S. Army’s Troop Medical Clinic and as the Brigade Surgeon for the 23rd Quartermaster Brigade in Fort Lee, Virginia. In support of the global war on terrorism, she deployed with the 7212th Installation Medical Support Unit (IMSU) to Fort McCoy, Wisconsin. Additionally, she worked as an Assistant Deputy Chief of Clinical Services of the mobilization/demobilization medical services unit in Fort Dix, New Jersey. In 2005, she assisted in the planning and development of the Active Duty Clinic at Kenner Army Health Clinic, and she became the Clinic’s Supervising Physician. She worked her way up through the ranks and she was promoted to Major in 2006. While working in the medical field, Dr. Kelsey developed a keen interest in research and in the advancement of health care. Dr. Kelsey spent a year as a researcher for Emory University (Atlanta, Georgia). She researched Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) prevention in high risk population areas. Shortly thereafter, she became a charter member of the Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) at the University School of Maryland’s School of Medicine in Baltimore. Dr. Kelsey served as President and Vice-President of FMIG. She has been honored with multiple military awards for her arduous, selfless service and consummate ‘can do’ attitude. She has also received numerous awards and recognition for her medical commitment and community service.
Dr. Kelsey is a member of the
National Medical Association and the American Academy of Family
Practice. She is also
an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and Sigma
Phi Psi Sorority, Incorporated for the United States Armed Forces Women.
True to her creed of helping people, Dr. Kelsey volunteers for
the organization ServiceWomen in Solidarity To Enlighten ROTC Women
(S.I.S.T.E.R.). The purpose
of S.I.S.T.E.R. is to educate, develop, and expose Reserve Officer
Training Corps (ROTC) women to values and opportunities beyond the
classroom.
